ToHeart is the story of Akari Kamigashi and her numerous friends as they
make their way through high school. Two in particular, Hiroyuki Fujita and
Masashi Satou, have been Akari's friends since they were small. Akari's feelings
for Hiroyuki have developed somewhat further than friendship; however, she's not
sure what this means, and is too timid to tell him.
Regardless, she tries her hardest in the one thing she's good at - cooking - in
order to win Hiroyuki's heart. The sarcastic and laidback Hiroyuki however is
too busy helping other people with their problems; including the incompetent but
forthright maid robot Multi, and the mysterious rich girl Serika Kurusugawa. Can
Akari gather together the courage to finally tell Hiroyuki how she feels?

ToHeart is a popular franchise spanning the game, anime and manga
mediums; this manga series is an adaptation of the first anime series, also
called ToHeart.
ToHeart is a cute slice-of-life series very much aimed at the younger
teen girl market, and in my opinion (having not seen any of the other releases)
wouldn't appeal to many other manga fans. That being said, this manga has an
overly cute 'lolita' feel to it. The character designs (especially of the anime
series) remind me very much of
Cardcaptor Sakura;
and if you like series like Cardcaptor Sakura you would most likely like
this also.

Manga
ToHeart, as I
mentioned before, is an adaptation from the popular anime series of the same
name, and released by ADV. It's a relatively old release, as the last volume was
published in 2000. Unfortunately, as it's an ADV release, it's quite rare. There
is also a sequel manga named ToHeart ~Remember my Memories~ which was
similarly adapted from a second anime series.
Anime
The anime series of
ToHeart was adapted from the Playstation 2 and PC dating
sim game, called ToHeart PSE (which was in turn an
edited version of a original PC hentai game). This anime series has since been
released in the West by Right Stuf. Such was the popularity of both game and anime
that they spawned a second anime series, ToHeart ~Remember my Memories~, and
in turn a second manga series.
There is also a separate game and anime series, ToHeart2, which is separate
from the rest of the franchise, featuring mainly new characters (aside from one
cameo appearance) and being set two years after the events of ToHeart. This
anime was followed by an OVA of the same
name and has many adaptations.
