Two thousand years ago, a carpenter's boy from Nazareth in Judea prophesied,
preached and taught his way around Israel and the Middle-east with his small
band of loyal followers. His message was something no one had ever heard
before; it overturned Jewish teachings, it flabbergasted the leaders of the
Jewish nation, brought people in crowds to listen. It was dangerous, and
revolutionary. For this,
he was tried and put to death by the Roman occupation. The end of the story of
an ordinary man?
No. Following the death of Jesus of Nazareth, his teachings lived on amongst his
scattered followers, who banded together in secret, passing along a rumour...
their leader, whom everyone thought was dead, had in fact defeated death and was
risen from the dead... and his legacy still lives on today, in a world - your
world - which would never be the same again.

I discovered The Manga Bible through a friend who knew I was interested in manga and
thought I should read this; so it was with some expectancy that I bought and
began to read it.
Covering the entire New Testament (though not in exhaustive detail), this book
highlights important details from the Bible and presents them in a way which is
up-to-date, refreshing and palatable to today's new generation reader. But this
is no namby-pamby comic for children - the details are stark and the art style
Western, but angular and unforgiving.
Putting my obvious personal feelings about the subject matter aside, this manga
is an interesting and unique take on what is arguably the most famous book
mankind has ever seen.

Manga
The Manga Bible
is available in two formats, The Manga Bible: NT-Extreme and The Manga
Bible: NT-Raw, which is the copy I have. As far as I can fathom, I believe
the Extreme version also contains the full text of the New Testament as well as
the manga itself. Both versions also contain an interview with the creator and a
good deal of concept drawings and illustrations. A similar book detailing the
full Bible is also in planning and is due to be released soon.
Anime
There is no
The Manga Bible anime as of yet. However, The Bible has been
animated many times in different formats and in many different languages.
