Poems

In Depression

Black tears rain down and batter the ground
Then lie in pools of forsaken hopes and dreams
The cause and result of the pain of centuries
But I have to keep hoping if it is the way it seems
Because that's all that keeps me going
That's all that keeps me going

The end of my world seems to crawl ever near
At least in my mind - of loneliness it speaks
Of heartache, suffering, despair, a knowledge
Of something inside which won't find what it seeks
But it's all that keeps me going
It's all that keeps me going

A hand reached out, it touched my very soul
And for once the shadows were blissfully clear
But now it falters, not knowing where to turn
And it left a dream - threatened by doubt and fear
But you're all that keeps me going
You're all that keeps me going

About this poem

This is a poem I wrote when I was in my last year at sixth form. I can't really remember what motivated me to write it specifically, but it is about having depression, the mood swings you go through, and how one person can make all the difference.
