Neo-Venezia ネオ・ヴェネツィア

The charming town of
Neo-Venezia is one of Aqua's main tourist attractions. Based on the original
city of Venezia (Venice) on Man-Home (Earth), Neo-Venezia is a place of canals,
bridges, squares, alleyways and beautiful architecture. Everything is as it was
a century ago on Man-Home.
Though popular all
year round, Neo-Venezia is particularly busy during the summer, when tourists
flock to the city. Undines (gondoliers) navigate the waterways with superb
skill, giving tours to visitors and imparting to them the many beautiful sights
and wonders of the city.

Piazza San
Marco サン・マールッコ広場
Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square) is Neo-Venezia's main plaza, incorporating
many points of interest. The Marco Polo International Spaceport is the gateway
into the city for all aerial craft, and was originally the meeting place of
Aqua's
governors during the colonization of Aqua. The impressive bell tower is
found on the opposite side of the plaza, and beyond is the Basilica di San
Marco, Neo-Venezia's impressive cathedral. The Square is also home to the famous
'shadow-chasing' café, which moves around the plaza on hot days to avoid the
sun. The original café was founded on Man-Home 580 years ago, and is credited as
the first place to sell caffé latte.

The
Floating Island
Suspended in the air several thousand feet above sea level, Aqua's many
'floating islands' serve to regulate the planet's weather. Accessible by cable
car, Neo-Venezia's floating island commands an unparalleled view of the city.

Hime-ya 姫屋
At 300 years old, Hime-ya is the oldest undine company on Aqua and has its
impressive headquarters on the main route into the city. Having produced many
fine undines and still thriving today, Hime-ya is owned by the Granzchesta
family.

The Bridge of Sighs
The Bridge of Sighs is one of Neo-Venezia's most famous landmarks. This small,
heavily carved bridge crosses the canal between what was on Man-Home the city's
courthouse and prison. It is said that every prisoner that crossed the bridge
from the courthouse to the prison looked down onto the city below and sighed in
grief.

Cannaregio
Post Office カンナレィージオ郵便局
Another of Neo-Venezia's impressive buildings is the Cannaregio Post Office. The
city's efficient fleet of postmen and women are based here. Even if you don't
have a letter to send, this is well worth a visit!

Orange Planet オレンジ・プラネット
The castle-like buildings and beautiful grounds of Orange Planet's headquarters
seem a fitting home for Aqua's most successful undine company of recent years.
Tucked further into the city, Orange Planet houses hundreds of trainee and prima
undines.

The
Underground City
Beneath Neo-Venezia there is an underground city. It exists to support the
hundreds of gnomes, workers who monitor Aqua's gravity network beneath the
surface. As well as the totally different experience of visiting the city (by
lift if the stairs are too taxing!), you can also have mushroom hotpot at one of
the city's restaurants.

ARIA Company アリアカンパニー
Nestled at the edge of the city, ARIA Company is the headquarters of the
smallest undine company on Aqua. There are usually no more than two undines
working here at any one time; a prima, and a trainee. The company was founded by
legendary undine Akino Ametsuchi, now affectionately known as 'Grandma'.
